Professional interests
My primary professional interests lie in social media (e.g. web 2.0) and emerging technologies; how they can be used to develop library services and support learning and research, both for information professionals and for academic research/studies. At present I am particularly interested in mobile technologies and how they can be utilised in libraries.
My other research interests include e-learning, technology supported learning, information literacy, and strategic business planning, particularly marketing and communication planning; my MSc dissertation focused on strategic marketing in academic libraries.
As an active member of CILIP, ALA, and IFLA, I am keen to support professional organisations and currently volunteer my time to serve on two CILIP committees. Through these committees I organise events; manage communication to members; and facilitate communication, networking and sharing of good practice between members. I am also a member of the LIS New Professionals Network administration team, and the 23 Things for Professional Development (an online course open to all LIS workers) organising team.
